Working with the Prisoners is one of the enjoyable parts of our ministry
We our starting our 20th year working in the prison around the Oklahoma, plus overseas. Its amazing on how God works throughout the prison. Men's and Women's lives or changed as they hear to start living a new life for the Lord. Most of the men and women in the prison's loose there family and friends. Overseas sometimes their whole families have to enter the system with them. Overseas prison systems are much different then the United States.
Prisoners are left with the facts of what they have done and the heart wrenching fact of what it has done to their families. They spend the holidays alone. Birthdays that no one cares about any longer. Most men and women that are incarcerated find their selfs lost in the prison system. Always having to look over there shoulders to ensure of their safety and not having anyone to trust around them. The guards are there for their safety but not always are there at the times when things can happen. (Just like us, that are on the outside a lot of times you see things and you wonder where is a policeman when you need them) well this is the same way in the prisons. So most men and women are at risk of their lives and the possibilities of harm being done to them.
We are not there to ensure of the safety but we go to show them that their is a loving God that does care and wants to set them free from the things that bound them.
Around 75% of the men and women in the prison system have been hindered in their life in many ways form abuse (sexual or physical) or drugs. It seems that these days drugs plays more of the role with the young people that are entering the system for the first time. It is a heart felt felling when one of them finds the Lord and his mercy's. They find that the Lord will be there for them no matter what, they learn the truths and that helps them with their walk inside the prisons. And for some when they are released.
